Kampung Buangkok end tour with Almerez win

Kampung Buangkok FC ended their friendly tour to the Sultanate with a highly-entertaining affair in a 6-2 victory against Almerez FC during an exhibition match at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex last weekend.

The win was a welcoming boost for the Singaporeans after having their first taste of Brunei futsal in a 2-4 reverse against Brunei Futsal League (BFL) leaders Kasuka Ar Rawda.

Almerez FC looked to emulate their rivals with a victory and made the perfect start after Muhammad Nur Faizal bin Haji Mohd Kamaruden netted in the seventh minute.

However, the import unfortunately scored an own goal just a minute later.

The Singapore outfit took a 2-1 lead through their star player Bambang Bayu Saptaji in the 11th minute before Raka Febianto helped his side build a two-goal cushion in the 19th minute.

Almerez pulled one back through Muhammad Nur Faizal but Kampung Buangkok went further ahead following strikes from Kelvin S/O Khishan and Bambang within a five minute spell.

Buangkok FC goalkeeper Kenneth Kwang said, “We came into the match in high spirits after losing the first match. The players managed to adapt well and were able to have a read on Almerez.”

He added, “We took our opportunities to great effect until we won the match in style.”

Meanwhile, Almerez FC team manager Haji Abdul Azim bin Haji Zakaria said, “We enjoyed a spell of dominance in the match. However, our attacks failed to result in a goal.” He added, “The match will serve as a good experience for the players especially the young ones in facing futsal players from overseas.” – Fadhil Yunus
