Kampong Telisai residents vote for new penghulu, village head

The candidate for Kampong Telisai Village Head Sofian bin Haji Md Yusof, 47, received 228 votes in favour and four votes against during the voting for Mukim Telisai penghulu and Kampong Telisai village head at the Tumpuan Telisai Primary School, Tutong District yesterday.

A total of 232 residents out of the 250 cast their votes.

The PMKK e-Voting application was used by 29 residents while 203 voted using the ballot paper.

The voting has been open since October 19 for Kampong Telisai village head, while for Mukim Telisai penghulu the voting began yesterday and continues until tomorrow.

The results and the selection of Kampong Telisai village head will be presented to the Board of Appointment, Discipline, and Procedures for the Mukim Penghulu and Village Head at the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The candidate for Mukim Telisai penghulu Haji Haslan bin Haji Shahbudin, 55, is a former mosque affairs officer at the Mosque Affairs Department. The voting and selection ceremony for Mukim Telisai penghulu was specifically for residents in Kampong Telisai, Kampong Danau and its vicinity.

Meanwhile, the voting and selection will be continued until tomorrow for residents in Kampong Bukit Beruang and RPN Bukit Beruang.

It will be held at the RPN Bukit Beruang Community Hall from 8am to 2pm where the voting and selection of Kampong Bukit Beruang and RPN Bukit Beruang as well as RPN Bukit Beruang Zone 3 village heads.

The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Kampong Telisai Mosque Affairs Officer, Saipol bin Ismail followed by a speech by Acting Tutong District Officer Mohd Amirul Hadi bin Haji Md Tajudin as Chairman of the ceremony.
