Kampong Kiudang, Pad Nunok residents vote for new village head

The voting for the village head of Kampong Kiudang and Kampong Pad Nunok was held via drive-through yesterday at the Kampong Pad Nunok Community Hall, Tutong District.

The election yesterday used an offline voting system and ballot papers, while the voting via the PMKK e-Voting application began on February 16 at 8am.

The only eligible candidate to fill the vacancy for the position of Kampong Kiudang and Kampong Pad Nunok village head is Muhammad Rifaie bin Haji Abdul Rahim @ Cyril Wong Selangkir, 47.

He is a neighbourhood watch supervisor of Kampong Kiudang and previously served as an aircraft engineer at the Royal Brunei Air Force before retiring from government service.

Of the 318 residents who registered, 228 were eligible to cast their votes. Twenty-four (10.5 per cent) voted via the PMKK e-Voting application, two (0.9 per cent) voted using offline method and 202 (88.6 per cent) voted using ballot papers.

Also present during the event were senior officers at the Ministry of Home Affairs, the acting penghulu of Mukim Kiudang and acting village heads in Mukim Kiudang, Tutong District.

The voting results and selection of the Kampong Kiudang and Pad Nunok village head will be presented to the Board of Appointment, Discipline, and Procedures for the Mukim Penghulu and Village Head, at the Ministry of Home Affairs for further processing.

The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat led by Kampong Birau Mosque Imam Ahmad bin Haji Abdul Razak followed by speeches from Tutong Acting District Officer Mohd Amirul Hadi bin Haji Mohd Tajudin and Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Haji Ramli bin Haji Lahit in their capacity as the chairpersons of the event.
