Kadazan Dusun woman embraces Islam

A Kadazan Dusun woman converted to Islam in a ceremony held recently at a private residence in Kampong Salambigar. Elley Milus, 27, is now known as Nur Elisha Aliyah
binti Abdullah.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by the recitation of the Syahadah by the new convert, in the presence of Assistant Director of the Islamic Da’wah Centre under the Ministry of Religious Affairs Abdul Aziz bin Haji Abdul Kahar and officials of the Dakwah Dissemination Division.

The ceremony continued with the presentation of souvenirs from Abdul Aziz to Nur Elisha Aliyah, followed by Dikir Marhaban, the sprinkling of scented flowers and the recitation of Doa Selamat.

As of February 28, 83 individuals had converted to Islam. Meanwhile, last year saw 356 conversions, and 436 in 2020.
