    Junior Korean students receive certificates, prizes

    The group of Korean students participating in the Junior Study Camp from South Korea with Laksamana College of Business (LCB) received certificates and prizes at a closing ceremony at the LCB Auditorium, LCB Amnex building yesterday.

    Ambassador of Korea to Brunei Darussalam Kim Soung-eun was present along with LCB and Abdul Razak Holdings Director Haji Suhaimei bin Haji Besar and LCB Deputy Principal Sivarajah Subramaniam.

    LCB Deputy Principal S Sivarajah noted the camp has been an incredible journey and was proud of the students’ achievements as well as acknowledging the support from the Korean ambassador.

    He also expressed appreciation to SSimpleSoft for bridging the students and LCB together for the opportunity, adding that their dedication to building educational connections enhanced students’ learning experiences.

    He also thanked their partner, Omnisports, for arranging sports activities for the students which contributed to their overall development.

    “To our students, I hope this study camp has been a time of both insightful learning and enjoyable experiences. Whether inside or outside the classroom, I believe you’ve learnt a lot of great things and made lasting memories. We are proud of each one of you and your commitment to making this camp a success.”

    The hands-on programme organised in collaboration with external organisations from South Korea, ensured participants made up of students from the age of 10-12 were active contributors to a dynamic global educational landscape.

    The camp offered students a transformative experience blending international learning styles, skills development and a glimpse into studying and living abroad.

    The students were guided by LCB lecturers from diverse backgrounds covering hospitality, computer science, culinary arts, English proficiency and prioritising practical applications over traditional methods.

    LCB also played a role in fostering intellectual and personal growth throughout the study camp, including cultural activities such as tasting local kueh, learning basic Malay Language as well as additional activities including pizza making, biscuit making and biscuit decoration.

    The Korean ambassador and the deputy principal presented prizes.

    Meanwhile, 12-year-old Lim Pomi said she enjoyed the programme and it helped manage her emotion level as well as improving her English.

    She added that she loves the local food and sceneries and hopes she can come back again to explore more places in the Sultanate.

    Fellow student, 10-year-old Jun said he learnt a lot of knowledge on Brunei and enjoyed activities such as dodge ball and golf as it helped him to improve his skills. – Lyna Mohamad
