JPMC first in Brunei to receive fourth Gold Seal

Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC) achieved a significant milestone by being awarded the fourth Joint Commission International (JCI) Gold Seal of Approval, making it the first healthcare provider in the Sultanate to receive the recognition.

The JCI Accreditation Survey at JPMC from October 23 to 27, was conducted by JCI International Surveyors, physician surveyor Patricia O’Shea and led by nurse/administrative surveyor Ann Watkins to ensure all applicable standards were met.

According to Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar who is also Chairman and Executive Director of JPMC, “As technology and research advances throughout the years, JCI accreditations for JPMC has helped the team to comply and adapt to the latest practices in healthcare to ensure an international standard of quality care and patient safety is delivered by JPMC at all times.”

He emphasised the importance of adapting to the latest healthcare practises to maintain international standards of quality care and patient safety. He also highlighted the significance of ensuring both patient and healthcare provider safety through these accreditation efforts.

“The past three years, JPMC has expanded their services with the establishment of Renal Dialysis Unit and High Dependency Unit. Both units were also assessed during the JCI survey for the safety and quality of hemodialysis and transplant processes,” added JPMC Medical Director Dr Meera Sahib Kabeer.

Dr Kabeer mentioned the recent expansion of services, emphasising the thorough assessment of units during the JCI survey, ensuring the safety and quality of healthcare processes.
