Two local men, aged 39 and 48, were apprehended during a joint operation by law enforcement agencies led by the Enforcement Division of the Royal Customs and Excise Department (RCED) in Kampong Sungai Siamas and Kampong Setia on February 8.

The joint operation in Kampong Ayer was fronted by the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF), Internal Security Department, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD).

The law enforcers seized four packs and six sticks of cigarettes and 44 firecrackers. Also found were several packages of crystalline substances believed to be syabu as well as BND2,390 in cash suspected to be revenue from the sale of the contraband.

All contraband were seized and the suspects were taken to the law enforcement office and NCB for questioning.

Meanwhile, another joint operation was carried out on Sungai Mangsulut between Meragang and Berakas Beach on the same day. RCED found two boats with contraband.

Some 267 cartons and 242 packets of cigarettes, 303 bottles and 1,705 cans of alcohol were seized along with the boats measuring 26 and 28 feet with five engines and two gallons of petrol.
