The Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) officially launched Cohort 2 of Coding.bn at a ceremony at Design and Technology building, Anggerek Desa on Monday.
AITI Chief Executive and co-lead of the Manpower Industry Steering Committee Working Group for Information and Communication Technology Sector (MISC-WG ICT) Ir Haji Jailani bin Haji Buntar was the guest of honour.
MISC-WG ICT members, participants and representatives of hosting organisations were also present.
The event began with opening remarks by AITI Assistant Chief Executive for Industry Development Group Norshahrul Nizam bin Othman followed by an overview of Coding.bn by Grominda Sdn Bhd Chief Executive Officer Md Nur Aiman bin Haji Minorhadi as appointed facilitator for Cohort 2 of Coding.bn.
Coding.bn is a six-month programme designed to provide ICT youth jobseekers with in-demand programming skills to make them more employable and industry-ready. The programme aims to bridge the gap between what participants learnt during their studies and the demands of the market today. The programme also promotes a well-rounded educational experience that places equal emphasis on technical proficiency, practical experience and professional development for their participants.
Some 59 participants completed Cohort 1 of Coding.bn on September 30, 2021 where upon completion, many have been employed at their hosting companies in programming related job roles.
In Cohort 2, 60 youth jobseekers are targetted to be upskilled in their programming capabilities and other ICT-related competencies to meet industry requirements and boost their potential for employment. During the programme, the participants will undergo three months of intensive learning and three months of on-the-job training with the hosting organisations.
The participants will also be mentored by industry experts throughout the programme.
Participating in the programme as the hosting organisations are Activ8 BN, Dossyr Corporation, DotRoot Technologies Sdn Bhd, EVYD Technology Sdn Bhd, InnovAero Sdn bhd, Jerudong Park Country Club Sdn Bhd, Kolej International Graduate Studies (IGS), LabWorks Digital, Shell LiveWIRE Brunei, MenG:Game Company, Network Integrity Assurance Technologies Sdn Bhd (NiAT), Progresif Sdn Bhd, Rumine Corporation, Sphiere Sdn Bhd, Super Squad BN, and Track and Roll Sdn Bhd.
