After completing his BDTVEC Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, Muhammad Safwan bin Haji Roslan has been looking for a job relevant to his qualification.

In the past nine months, he has been looking for a permanent job after numerous applications were unsuccessful.

Muhammad Safwan is one of the Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) graduates looking to successfully get a job in the IBTE Job Fair taking place at IBTE Mechanical Campus, Tungku.

In an interview, he said, “It’s not easy to find a job related to my qualification and experience in maintenance and repair. I have applied to several companies. However, no response so far.

I am quite worried since there are not many vacancies in my field.”

The 22-year-old said, “I am hopeful that I can get employed (at the job fair). I feel that having such an event can provide a better opportunity for job seekers to not only get employed but also gain much-needed experience in job search.”

Meanwhile, Nurul Aida Amalina binti Rosman who graduated with an HNTec in Business (Business Management) in 2019 and HND In Human Resource at Politeknik Brunei, shared that she hoped to land a job that is relevant to her qualifications.

She added that she has been looking for a job since March and had attended four interviews.

She said, “I feel that the job fair is very helpful and I found some companies that I didn’t know existed because of this job fair.” She hoped that there will be more job fairs organised in the future.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Amirul Ridhwan bin Md Dini, who will be graduating from his HNTec course in construction and draughting this year is also hoping to land a job.

He said, “I feel that the job market is tough nowadays. Therefore, I am looking to secure a job before I graduate this year. I feel that there are limited job opportunities related to my field.

“I have been doing attachment at J-Fa Sdn Bhd, and I hope I would be offered a permanent job,” he added.

Muhammad Amirul’s friend, Muhammad Wan Hidayatullah bin Abdullah Hairwan, also shared the same sentiment.

He added that it’s not easy to obtain more information on job vacancies and the companies offering the positions.

“This job fair is a good initiative to help us gain exposure and employment opportunities,” he said.
