JIS, ISB open interschool meet with huge win

Jerudong International School (JIS) opened their campaign in the Aewon PPE Interschool Basketball Tournament in comprehensive fashion after defeating Chung Ching Middle School 114-33 at the Brunei Basketball Association Court in Batu Bersurat last Friday.

The Under-18 Boys’ favourites saw Gerald Phua leading the scores with a 21-point haul followed by team captain Adam Lee with 19 points.

The trio of team captain Jaron On, Zac Song and Nicholas Yip also enjoyed a double-digit scoring run to propel their side to a convincing win.

Meanwhile, Chung Ching player Adrian Chong managed 19 points for his team.

In the Under-18 Girls’ category, International School Brunei (ISB) underlined their intent of winning the title with a 81-12 win over Chung Hwa Middle School Kuala Belait.

The competition continues tonight with Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam Secondary School taking on St Andrew’s School.

The top two teams from each group will qualify to the knockout-out phase scheduled to commence on November 26. – Fadhil Yunus
