(ANN/KOREA HERALD) – Jennie, a member of the internationally acclaimed K-pop group Blackpink and a successful solo artist, is set to make her long-awaited solo comeback with her new single “Mantra” on October 11, according to her agency, OA Entertainment. This marks her first solo release in a year since her digital single “You & Me,” which came out in October 2023.
The news was shared by Jennie herself on Tuesday via her official website, where she also provided links for fans to presave the track on popular streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music. Along with the announcement, a teaser preview of “Mantra” was released, giving fans a taste of its catchy melody.
This upcoming release follows Jennie’s successful collaboration earlier this year with The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp on the track “One of the Girls,” which served as the original soundtrack for the HBO series The Idol. The song gained widespread popularity, surpassing 1 billion streams on Spotify and maintaining a strong presence on the Billboard Hot 100 for 20 consecutive weeks.
Notably, with “One of the Girls,” Jennie became the first Korean female solo artist to receive platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), a recognition awarded for achieving over 1 million units sold.
In another milestone, Jennie’s solo debut track “Solo” reached over 1 billion views on YouTube in April, making her the first K-pop female soloist to achieve this feat.
To enhance her international promotions, Jennie partnered with Columbia Records in September, a leading US label under Sony Music Entertainment that represents global superstars such as Beyoncé, Adele, and Harry Styles. Columbia Records has pledged substantial support for her solo ventures.
As anticipation for “Mantra” builds, fans and industry experts alike are speculating whether Jennie will secure her second solo entry on the Billboard Hot 100. Although she has appeared on the chart multiple times with Blackpink, her solo debut on the Hot 100 came with “One of the Girls.” Her previous single, “You & Me,” peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 but did not enter the main chart.
With her new release on the horizon, Jennie continues to solidify her position as a global music icon.
