Eight university graduates from Japan are engaging in an ‘Environmental Protection Exchange’ under Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths (JENESYS) programme. Green Brunei founder Khairunnisa binti Haji Ash’ari led the graduates in a river cleaning campaign.
Some 62.2 kilogrammes of trash was collected from Brunei River. The visitors also visited Ministry of Development, Kampong Ayer and Brunei Energy Hub Dermaga Diraja.
They also delivered presentations and conducted demonstrations at local schools, encouraged local students to develop an understanding and interest in Japan.
One of the visiting graduates, Hayasaka Ryosuke said, “It’s a different country filled with natural wonders particularly rainforests. I love the long probosis monkeys and local fruit like durian.”
