Some 51 personnel comprising management, officers, staff and apprentices from the SEAMEO Regional Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (SEAMEO Voctech) participated in a one-day ISO awareness training session.

At the event’s opening on March 4, director Alias bin Haji Abu Bakar announced the centre’s aspirations of ensuring its provision of training services adheres to International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) standards.

He said, “ISO certification is not just a badge of honour that can be displayed; it is a rigorous process involving assessing the process and systems against international’s recognised standards to enable us to identify areas where it can improve our operations for good governance, reduce costs and enhance customer satisfaction and trust.”

He added, “The achievement of ISO certification is not and should not be a one-time event. It requires ongoing commitment and sustained effort from everyone in the organisation.

“We must continuously monitor and improve our process to ensure that we meet ISO standards and deliver the best possible service to our clients.”

The session was facilitated by managing director of Arete Solutions Sdn Bhd Shaji Krishan.

He spoke on essential aspects of the ISO certification relating to quality standards and management.

ISO is a globally-recognised body that develops and publishes international standards for industries, including education and training.

Following the ISO awareness session with all personnel, the centre will conduct further training and familiarisation sessions with a designated task force to start the ISO certification process.
