‘Islamic preachers play major role in spreading religion’

KUPU SB Dean of the Faculty of Usuluddin Dr Norashibah binti Haji Besar said ‘pendakwah’ or Dai’e (Islamic preacher) plays a crucial role in disseminating the religion in the community as they have been entrusted by Allah the Almighty to uphold the eminence of Islam.

Challenges faced by aspiring preachers are knowledge and skills. Enthusiasm without knowledge and skills can hinder their ability to effectively carry out their role as preachers, she added.

The KUPU SB Dean of the Faculty of Usuluddin stated this during the opening ceremony for the International Seminar on Usuluddin Education at Tarbiah Hall, Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College KUPU SB yesterday.

The theme of the seminar ‘Empower the Quality of Da’ie’ aimed to empower the credibility of da’ie in integrating theoretical and practical knowledge. The integration seeks to further strengthen dakwah strategies that are of higher quality, relevance, and aligned with the changing situations and community awareness of present time.

The seminar is aimed at deepening the knowledge of preaching with realistic and strategic issues to empower effective dakwah work. The seminar also aims to improve da’ie skills with diverse dakwah methodologies and the use of the latest technological media to guarantee the quality of da’ie.

The ceremony was followed with a speech from State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned.

There were presentations for main paperwork I by Director of Islamic Hadhari Institute of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Professor Dato’ Dr Fariza binti Md Sham, and main paperwork II by Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia Professor Dato Dr Zulkiple bin Abdul Ghani and Ra’es of KUPU SB Dr Haji Adanan bin Haji Basar. – Rokiah Mahmud
