Islamic finance industry, development discussed at SAC 2022

‘Syariah Governance Framework: Quality Versus Compliance’ was the focus of a discussion during the Syariah Advisory Conference 2022 (SAC 2022) organised by the Brunei Institute of Leadership and Islamic Finance (BILIF) at the Musyawarah Hall of the International Convention Centre in Berakas yesterday.

Moderated by Head of Financing Office at the Ministry of Finance and Economy Dr Haji Mohd Aidil Yusrie bin Haji Shari, panellists included Syariah Advisory Council (SAC) of Bank Negara Malaysia and Securities Commission Malaysia Member and International Islamic University Malaysia Professor Engku Rabiah Adawiah binti Engku Ali; Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) Standards Implementation and Strategic Developments Head Dr Rizwan Malik; and Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) Islamic Finance Centre Head Mujtaba Khalid.

Professor Engku Rabiah Adawiah talked about the development of Syariah governance frameworks in Malaysia, while Dr Rizwan spoke on the role Syariah governance frameworks play, and Mujtaba highlighted the evolution of the Islamic finance industry.
