Islam is a religion that loves peace and security and dislikes enmity. Upholding peace, tranquility and stability in people’s lives is the hope and aspiration of every country, imams said in the Friday sermon yesterday as the Sultanate marked the 63rd anniversary of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF).
Islam forbids initiating war without just reasons, imams added.
“Towards achieving and realising this purpose, one initiative is the establishment of a strong and well-equipped RBAF, with sophisticated and modem equipment as well as physical and spiritual readiness,” imams said.
The strength of faith is also important, imams added, “because history has proven that the strength and victory of the Muslim army do not lie in the number of soldiers and the sophistication of equipment but from the strength of faith, obedience to the leader, and sincerity in fighting for the sake of Allah the Almighty”.
The purpose of the armed forces is not to commit aggression and persecution, but to defend the self and the country from threats, imams said. – Azlan Othman
