ISB garden receives recognition

The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) has awarded International School Brunei’s (ISB) Eco Wellness Garden with a Level 3 School Gardening Award. The Eco Team at ISB has been leading initiatives at the school’s garden to grow various indigenous plants, to encourage wildlife into the garden, and to encourage students at ISB to be more in touch with nature.

ISB Eco Coordinator Mark Evans said, “This is an achievement that we can be proud of, and this award is a testimony of ISB’s commitment to educate and raise environmental awareness in everyday school life.

“We love working on the wellness garden and seeing all the students and teacher using it to relax, play and learn about nature.

“I would encourage all schools to develop an area where you can bring the jungle to the students’ fingertips.”

The team is pursuing further integration of the garden into the school curriculum and collecting evidence for a Level 4 Award.

Eco initiatives in ISB is led by the Eco Warriors in Primary and the Eco Committee in Secondary, guided by ISB Eco Coordinators Mark Evans and Sarvagya Pradhan.
