ISB Family Walkathon celebrates school’s 60th anniversary

International School Brunei (ISB) held a Family Walkathon on Sunday at the Eco Corridor in Bandar Seri Begawan, with over 620 participants joining the event celebrating ISB’s 60th anniversary.

The ISB Family Walkathon was supported by the Health Promotion Centre and BN on the Move.

Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohammad Isham bin Haji Jaafar was in attendance as the guest of honour to officiate the event.

Also in attendance were members of the ISB Board of Directors including Deputy Board Chairman Nicholas King; Jorge Francisco Vega; and Wong Chin Toon; as well as Executive Principal and CEO of ISB Dominic Morley, and General Manager of ISB Vienna Law.

The event began with remarks from Morley, who said, “A very warm welcome to ISB’s very first family walkathon in conjunction with its 60th anniversary.

“We are thrilled to have you all here on this special day, celebrating good health and community spirit in the new year. Thank you for being part of the ISB Community.”

Morley then announced the start of the warm-up session for participants, who included members of the ISB community, families, friends, and alumni.

This was followed by the presentation of the Honorary Brunei Book of Records certificate to ISB, recognising it as Brunei’s first and longest-running internationally accredited international school. The certificate was presented to Morley by a representative of The Brunei Book of Records.

Participants then proceeded to take their positions at the starting line for the walkathon, which was divided into two categories: 5km and 2.5km, with the Minister of Health sounding the horn to officially launch the event.

Both categories saw participants embark on a scenic route along the waterfront in the capital which led back to the Eco Corridor.

Upon completion of their respective categories, participants were awarded medals at the finish line. In addition, prizes were presented to lucky draw winners at the end of the walkathon.

A token of appreciation was then presented to the guest of honour followed by a group photo to mark the successful conclusion of the event.
