SINGAPORE (ANN/STRAITS TIMES) – Singaporean footballer Irfan Fandi took on the role of a proud cheerleader for his girlfriend, Anntonia Porsild, during her performance at the recent Miss Universe 2023 pageant.
Expressing his pride on Instagram Stories on November 19, Irfan shared, “No words can express how proud I am of you. You did amazing, my queen. I love you.”
Porsild, a Danish-Thai model, secured the second position in the 72nd edition of the pageant held in El Salvador on November 18, with Nicaragua’s Sheynnis Palacios claiming the title, and Australia’s Moraya Wilson securing the third spot.
Acknowledging the support she received, Porsild, 27, expressed her gratitude on Instagram on November 19, saying, “No words can describe the way I’m feeling right now. I put my all on the stage tonight for Thailand, for everyone who believed in me and was a part of my journey. I’m sorry I couldn’t bring the crown home for us, and I am eternally grateful for all of the love and support I have received throughout this journey.”
Her heartfelt post garnered over 1.2 million “likes” and more than 74,000 comments, including one from Irfan stating, “I love you.”
Irfan, 26, the eldest son of Singapore football legend Fandi Ahmad and former model Wendy Jacobs, typically plays as a centre-back and has been representing Thai club BG Pathum United since 2019. Currently in Singapore, he might participate in the World Cup qualifier match against Thailand on November 21.
Thai media reported that Irfan and Porsild began their relationship in 2020. Porsild was often seen cheering for him from the stands and joined him on the field to celebrate Pathum’s first Thai League 1 title in 2021.
