Siti Nur Naqibah binti Reduan yesterday has been awarded Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) Scholars Scheme to pursue her doctorate in civil and environmental engineering at Imperial College London in the United Kingdom for four years following a signing ceremony held
yesterday.

Siti Nur Naqibah said, “I am grateful to receive the scholarship. This means more than just recognition of my past achievements. It has given me the dream of pursing a PhD. It’s definitely an investment for my future.”

She will be appointed as a civil engineering lecturer at UTB upon completion of her doctorate programme. She said when she chose material engineering for her discovery year at Universiti Brunei Darussalam, it sparked her interest in civil and environmental engineering.

The scholar aims to help UTB grow and become a global university, impacts society by supporting its enrichment efforts to fulfil the university’s vision as well as Brunei Vision 2035.

She admitted that she didn’t do very well on her ‘A’-Level. It was then that she realised she needed to do better, which led her to achieveing academic success.

UTB Registrar and Secretary Lim Chui Hua said the scholarship aims to nurture a new generation of future leaders who will shape the world through their knowledge, innovation and dedication to societal progress.

Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the MoE Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad was present to witness the signing.

Meanwhile, UTB Vice Chancellor Datin Paduka Professor Dr Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman was also in attendance along with UTB principal officers, staff and invited guests.
