The much-anticipated Aewon PPE Interschool Basketball Tournament hosted by the Brunei Basketball Association (BBA) will tip off on November 17 until December 2.
The tournament will be held as part of the association’s grassroots development initiative.
Aewon Garment and Embroidery and Aewon PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) will be the title sponsor of the tournament.
Director of Aewon Garment and Embroidery and Aewon PPE Lau Chai Seng handed over the sponsorship cheque amounting BND7,000 to President of Brunei Basketball Association Goh Kiat Hing yesterday. Goh Kiat Hing said, “I have fond memories competing in the Interschool Basketball Tournament some three decades ago. The friendship fostered back then is still going strong today.”
He added, “I have also learned a lot of valuable life skill from this competitive platform. I hope this upcoming tournament will also be a great learning experience for our young participants.”
With the support of the Co-Curriculum Education Department, Ministry of Education, 12 schools will be participating in the Under-18 boys’ category while four schools will be taking part in the Under-18 girls’ category.
The participating schools in the Under-18 boys’ category are International School Brunei, Jerudong International School: Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam Secondary School (SMJA); Menglait Secondary School; Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College (MSPSBS); Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah College (MDPMAMB); Seri Mulia Sarjana School; St Andrew’s School; St George’s School: Chung Ching Middle School; Chung Hwa Middle School Bandar Seri Begawan; and Chung Hua Middle School Kuala Belait.
Meanwhile, the participating schools in the Under-18 girls’ category are International School Brunei (ISB); Raja Isteri Girls High School (STPRI); Chung Hwa Middle School Bandar Seri Begawan and Chung Hua Middle School Kuala Belait. – Fadhil Yunus
