    International math competition comes to a close

    The Kangaroo International Math Competition 2023 from the Association Kangourou sans Frontières, France (AKSF) organised by Teachmeguru Tuition (Kangaroo Maths Brunei Secretariat) ended on Tuesday.

    Held in the Sultanate for the first time, 184 students from Chung Hua Middle School Kuala Belait, Chung Hwa Middle School Bandar Seri Begawan, Chung Ching Middle School, Chung Hwa School Kiudang, St James’ School, Sekolah Alif, Nusa Jaya School and Pertama School participated. It was held at the respective schools.

    The competition aimed to expose inference types of questions allowing students to raise the competency level as was tested in the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) for mathematical literacy. The questions allowed them to apply the knowledge they gained in class as well as highlight the importance of 21st-Century skills such as problem-solving and analytical thinking skills

    The mathematics competition is the world’s largest with four million participants from 96 countries in 2022, offering five different categories; Pre Collier, Ecolier, Benjamin, Cadet and Junior. – Rokiah Mahmud
