Inter-ministries tournament strengthens ties

The Inter-Ministry Badminton Championship aims to strengthen ties, cooperation and unity among the civil service workforce and encourage an active and healthy lifestyle.

Some 19 ministries’ teams will vie for top honours in the competition held in conjunction with the 30th Civil Service Day at the Chung Hwa School Kiudang Hall, Tutong District.

Permanent Secretary (Sports) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Pengiran Mohd Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud launched the event yesterday.

Legislative Council members, the director-general of the Public Service Department; senior government officers; and the acting head village of Mukim

Kiudang were also present at the opening ceremony.

The badminton tournament will contest five categories – the men’s singles; men’s ‘A’ doubles (B2 and above category); men’s ‘B’ doubles (Division III and under category); women’s ‘A’ doubles (Division III and above category): and women’s ‘B’ doubles (Division IV and under category).

The badminton tournament is jointly organised by the Tutong Municipal Department and the Tutong District Office and managed by Chung Hwa School Kiudang Badminton Club.

The semi-finals and finals will be held on November 26.

Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah will contribute The Championship Trophy. – Fadhil Yunus
