Institute launches festival to showcase students’ activities

The Institute Brunei of Technical Education (IBTE) Convocation Festival 2023 was held at its Sultan Bolkiah Campus (SBC) in Seria yesterday.

Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) Company Sdn Bhd Managing Director and Shell Country Chair in Brunei Darussalam Agnete Johnsgaard-Lewis was the guest of honour.

IBTE’s Acting Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Academic) Norjemee bin Jenek said the festival serves as a celebration of the achievements by the students and future graduates of the institute.

“The Pesta Konvo IBTE 2023 aims to promote the employability of our graduates, while also building a platform for networking post-convocation and to encouraging our graduates to be more adaptive and entrepreneurial,” he said.

Some 1,842 students will receive certificates during the 31st convocation ceremony at the International Convention Centre, Berakas on November 23. Following the speech, Johnsgaard-Lewis officiated the festival before touring of the exhibitions and booths at the campus’ multi-purpose hall featuring a plethora of activities set up by the students.

More booths and stalls were also set up by the students providing business opportunities for them as a variety of food, drinks, and games were on offer.

The convocation festival is slated to be held until November 10. – Daniel Lim
