Hosting the World First Aid Day event is a continuation of Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam’s (BIBD) long-standing partnership with the Brunei Darussalam Red Crescent Society (BRC) as one of the main non-governmental organisations supporting the Ministry of Health, said BIBD’s Head of Government Relations and Special Projects Haji Mohd Yusri bin Haji Wahsalfelah. “The BRC, through their 2020-2025 Strategic Plan, is actively working to instil a safety culture among the community by training more first aiders and to achieve their goal of having a first aider in every household.
“As a Partner in Progress, we are proud to be able to support the BRC, as this aligns strongly with our own values rooted in the Maqasid Syariah – concerned with the protection and preservation of life,” he said during the event held at BIBD Connects in the capital yesterday.
Haji Mohd Yusri added, “This is the first time such an event for World First Aid Day has been held in Brunei with outdoor activities and exhibitions from multiple stakeholders.
“We hope to encourage more members of the public to learn first aid and have the knowledge to create safer and healthier communities. This is also part of our support towards achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 3, in ensuring good health and well-being.”
Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar officiated the launch of the event yesterday.
