Instagram remains highly popular among Bruneians with 85.7 per cent of the country’s population above the age of 13 use the social media application this month.
According to the Digital 2022 April Global Statshot Report by social media management platform Hootsuite and specialist agency We Are Social, 308,950 Bruneians are using Instagram in April.
The country is also the highest in terms of the percentage of population using Instagram, followed by Kazakhstan (81.4 per cent), Turkey (79.7 per cent) and Cyprus (77.3 per cent).
Meanwhile, the Digital 2022 April report said 5.32 billion people around the world now use a mobile phone, equating 67 per cent of the global population, and smartphones account for roughly four in five of mobile handsets in use today.
The report said five billion people now use the Internet, with the global total increasing by almost 200 million over the past year.
It added that while 63 per cent of the world’s population are now online, there are still differences in the “quality” of Internet access around the world.
