    INRD targets illegal immigrants in series of operations

    The Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD) carried out a series of enforcement operations, focusing on illegal immigration and violations of immigration laws under the ongoing Operasi Panyap.

    The operations, which took place across several locations in Brunei, aimed to ensure compliance with immigration regulations and combat human trafficking and people smuggling.

    On February 17, Operasi Panyap 17/2025 targeted a new housing project in Mukim Liang.

    During the operation, eight foreign nationals were checked, and three individuals were arrested for overstaying in the country after their immigration passes had been revoked.

    Two days later, on February 19, Operasi Panyap 19/2025 was carried out at a restaurant in Mukim Sengkurong.

    Three foreign nationals were questioned, and one individual was arrested for working for an employer other than the one listed on their work permit and for violating the terms of their passport.

    On February 21, Operasi Panyap 21/2025 took place at a parking lot in Mukim Gadong ‘B’. Two foreign nationals were arrested for working outside the scope of their passport’s employment conditions.

    On February 24, Operasi Panyap 24/2025 focused on Pasar Tani Setenaga in Mukim Sengkurong. During an inspection of 10 foreign nationals, one individual was arrested for failing to provide valid documentation.

    In addition to these operations, a Joint Operasi Panyap 22/2025 was held in collaboration with the Royal Brunei Police Force, the Royal Customs and Excise Department and the Department of Labour. This operation, conducted in the foreign workers’ housing areas in Mukim Liang and Mukim Kuala Belait, involved checking 48 foreign nationals, resulting in seven arrests for failing to present proper documents. – Fadley Faisal
