The information literacy programme aims to expose youth to the National Youth Policy and Strategy 2020–2035 to mould the younger generation to become world-class agents of change and visionary with strong values in religion, racial identity and patriotism with inclusiveness.
Head of Information Department Temburong District Branch Izzah Hazirah binti Haji Adi Othman said this during the two-day information literacy programme for Temburong District youth that began yesterday.
The programme, organised by the Information Department at the Prime Minister’s Office, has 45 youth participants.
The event, a first for Temburong District, is also aimed at instilling a sense of responsibility among the youth to achieving Brunei Vision 2035, increasing awareness on their role in the Sultanate’s development as well as building closer ties between the youth and grassroots leaders.
Yesterday’s programme included talks by Assistant Head Officer (Youth) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Dr Muhammad Nuriskandar bin Mohd Hasnan; Special Duties Officer Grade II from Manpower Planning and Employment Council Nur Afiqah binti Mursidi and Religious Development Officer from Islamic Da’wah Centre Isham bin Ismail. There was also a talk on inclusivity.
Legislative Council member and Acting Penghulu of Temburong District Zone 1 Yang Berhormat Haji Sulaiman bin Haji Nasir and Senior Information Officer at the Information Department Haji Fathi Foad bin Dato Seri Setia Haji Abu Bakar were present at the opening ceremony. – James Kon
