Raya donations were handed over to 20 orphans and infaq (alms) to the Palestinian Humanitarian Funds in Gaza in conjunction with Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) Outreach Ramadhan Special Advocacy Programme ‘Infaq Made Easy 2.0’ during a ceremony on March 22.
The ceremony organised by the university’s Al-Qudwah Group under the Centre for Knowledge and Language Development (PPIB) was held at the university’s Auditorium Hall.
The programme represents an advocacy programme where the students were given the opportunity to contribute a minimum of BND0.50 or BND1 per day over a period of a month, starting from February 16 to March 16, in conjunction with Ramadhan. Over the month, the programme collected BND1,673, with the proceeds being distributed to orphans as well as to the Palestinian Humanitarian Fund in Gaza. Assistant Rector for Student Affairs and Alumni Dr Hajah Lilly Suzana binti Haji Shamsu, the guest of honour, handed the donations to 20 orphans in Mukim Gadong ‘B’. – Daniel Lim
