    Indonesians in the Sultanate vote for their president

    Some 7,000 Indonesians working or residing in the Sultanate turned up at the Indonesian Embassy premise at the Diplomatic Enclave, Jalan Kebangsaan, to cast their votes for the next Indonesian president, vice president and People’s Consultative Assembly on Sunday.

    The event was from 8am to 6pm, with registration conducted at the Hassanal Bolkiah Indoor Stadium.

    Coordinator H Ahmad Dhofir of the Indonesian Overseas General Election Committee (PPLN) said the event generated an enthusiastic response from Indonesian nationals in the country.

    The ballots will be counted tomorrow.

    Indonesian Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Dr Achmad Ubaedillah and spouse as well as Deputy Head of Mission Irwan Iding were present to oversee the event.

    Several members of the diplomatic corps were also present at the voting, including heads of missions from Cambodia, Timor-Leste, Laos, Turkiye, the United Kingdom, Bangladesh and Malaysia as well as Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of France in Brunei Darussalam. – Lyna Mohamad
