Indonesian man embraces Islam

A 42-year-old Indonesian man, Sih Sujatmono embraced the Islamic faith in a conversion ceremony in Kampong Sungai Taring, Belait District yesterday.

Legislative Council member and Penghulu of Mukim Bukit Sawat Yang Berhormat Haji Mohd Salleh bin Haji Othman attended the ceremony as the guest of honour.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar and Surah Al-Fatihah led by Assistant Religious Officer at the Belait District Dakwah Unit Abdul Khaliq bin Kamree. It was followed by the recitation of Syahadah.

Sih Sujatmono adopted his new Muslim name of Muhammad Sihsujatmono. The ceremony continued with the hand over of gifts to the convert as well as sprinkling of scented flowers accompanied by the recitation of Dikir Marhaban.

Islamic Da’wah Centre’s Belait District Branch recorded 45 individuals embracing the Islamic faith this year while 176 individuals have converted nationwide. – Daniel Lim
