Delegates of the Yayasan Kejayaan Muallaf Indonesia, who are in the country to strengthen bilateral ties and cooperation in the field of dakwah, made a courtesy call to the Embassy of Indonesia in Brunei Darussalam.
Chargé d’Affaires ad interim at the embassy Irwan Iding welcomed the delegation and expressed his appreciation for the group’s efforts. He added that the embassy would help to facilitate cooperation related to financing the development of converts by the Yayasan Kejayaan Muallaf Indonesia and other parties in Indonesia.
The group of 67 people comprised administrators of the Yayasan and the Lembaga Majelis Taklim Muallaf Kalbar, as well as West Kalimantan Provincial Government staff, led by H Muhammad Damanhuri, known to the public as ‘Ustaz Dayak’.
He said Indonesia can learn from the Sultanate, noting that unlike in Indonesia, processes in teaching muallaf are fully funded by the government. “Our hope is to find a way to obtain funds for the development of converts in Indonesia in general, and in West Kalimantan in particular,” Ustaz Dayak said.
The group also visited Darul Karamah, the Royal Regalia Museum, and the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque. – Lyna Mohamad
