(ANN/THE STAR) – Indonesian actress Sandra Dewi is embroiled in a legal scandal following accusations of corruption and embezzlement involving her husband, Harvey Moeis.
Reports from various Indonesian media outlets reveal that the country’s anti-corruption body has taken action, alleging that Sandra received funds from her husband’s business, the source of which is under question.
Authorities are particularly interested in determining Sandra’s awareness of the origins of these funds.
A spokesperson for the relevant body highlighted Sandra’s penchant for purchasing luxury items, including a private jet, raising further suspicions.
“The authorities need to investigate whether Sandra was aware of where her husband’s money came from.”
“Sandra often buys branded goods besides purchasing a private jet,” explained a representative of the relevant body.
If found guilty, Sandra could face a penalty of up to five years in prison or a fine amounting to IDR1 billion.
Earlier, Sandra’s private jet and a luxurious Rolls Royce, both gifted by Harvey on her previous birthdays, were seized by authorities for investigation purposes.
Harvey himself was arrested on March 27 on charges related to corruption and financial misconduct within his company, adding to the high-profile nature of the case.
