JAKARTA (XINHUA) – Indonesian President Joko Widodo met on Sunday with Norway’s Climate and Environment Minister Andreas Bjelland Eriksen on conservation cooperation, according to Indonesian Environment and Forestry Minister Siti Nurbaya Bakar.

“The main target is FOLU (Forestry and Other Land Use) Net Sink 2030. There has been concrete support or Norway’s contribution to Indonesia’s climate action achievements amounting to USD156 million, which is approximately equivalent to 30.2 million tonnes of carbon,” Siti Nurbaya told a press conference. Norway has provided financial support of USD56 million in 2022 as well as USD100 million onwards for the island nation’s climate action. Eriksen said that Norway has worked together with Indonesia, which has achieved significant progress in tackling deforestation.
