Individual, restaurant fined for littering in KB

An individual and a company were fined a total of BND1,300 on Tuesday by the Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board for violating the Miscellaneous Offences Act (Amendment) 2021.

The individual was fined BND300 for throwing away cigarette butts at a public premise at the back of a storefront at Jalan Pretty Kuala Belait, violating Chapter 12 (1) (a) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act (Amendment) 2021.

Meanwhile, a restaurant faced a BND1,000 fine for allowing the grease trap to overflow into a public premise resulting in wastewater flowing into public drainage near Jalan Pretty Kuala Belait violating Chapter 12 (1) (c) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act (Amendment) 2021.

Both the company and the individual were given seven days to settle the fines. The failure to pay the fine on time would result in the offenders being produced in court.

The Municipal Board reminded the public and business owners to ensure the cleanliness of the environment, and to ensure that trash is properly disposed. – Daniel Lim
