Indian Navy Ship (INS) Kiltan is visiting Brunei from May 25-28.

The visit, coordinated by the Indian Navy’s Eastern Fleet, symbolises the enduring camaraderie between the two nations, underlining shared commitment towards peace, stability and prosperity in the region.

INS Kiltan, an anti-submarine corvette, bears the name of Kiltan Island in India’s Lakshadweep archipelago. The Indian-built vessel sailed the vast expanse of the Indian Ocean and beyond with accolades including ‘Most Spirited Ship’ of the Eastern Fleet for 2019-20 and ‘Best Ship’ (corvettes category) for 2020-21.

The Royal Brunei Navy participated in professional exchanges and sport engagements.

Beyond ship visits, defence cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and India includes educational exchanges, participation in defence expos, joint exercises and reciprocal delegation visits. These programmes not only strengthen bilateral ties but also cultivate a framework for tackling challenges of a dynamically-evolving security land-scape.
