Eight foreign nationals were rounded up in a series of operations dubbed Operasi Kabat by the Immigration and National Registration Department’s Law Enforcement Division at a learning centre in Mukim Berakas ‘B’.
The inspection led to three foreign nationals being apprehended after they were found to have committed immigration violations including overstaying in the country and the failure to produce documents during the inspection.
The individuals were brought to the law enforcement office for investigation.
Meanwhile, 47-year-old Neneng Rohayati and 58-year-old Sarintan from Indonesia were found to have overstayed after their immigration passes expired. This is a violation under the Immigration Act Section 15(1), Chapter 17.
Both were sentenced to four months imprisonment and a BND1,000 fine instead of being caned.
The two failed to pay the fine and received an additional month to their prison term.
