Immigration violators nabbed

Three foreign nationals were detained during an operation by the Immigration and National Registration Department’s (INRD) targeting a restaurant and a food stall in Mukim Kianggeh.

A female foreigner was arrested for not working with her original employer in the capacity not stated in her work pass. Meanwhile, two male foreigners were arrested for working while on social visit passes. The detainees could face an imprisonment of no more than six months or a fine of no more than BND2,000, or both. Employers hiring or harbouring immigration offenders could also be fined up to BND3,000.

The INRD, in a statement, called on the public to report immigration offences to the authority by calling its hotline 8734888 or 8753888 for Bandar Seri Begawan or 8984111 for Kuala Belait. – Azlan Othman
