Immigration violator nabbed

A foreign woman suspected of violating Section 9 (4) of Chapter 17 of the Immigration Act was apprehended by officers of the Kuala Belait Enforcement Section.

The woman was nabbed during operation OPS Sakat JIPK 96/2023 at a spare part shop in Mukim Seria on Tuesday.

Meanwhile the shop owner and the guarantor were told to report to the enforcement office for further investigation and action.

Kuala Belait’s head of Immigration and Law Enforcement reminded visitors and tourists to refrain from taking up any kind of employment and to adhere to the country’s Immigration Act and regulations.

A social or tourist visit pass holder is prohibited from taking any form of paid or unpaid employment. A person found guilty can be jailed for not more than six months or be fined not exceeding BND2,000.

The public can contact the department’s hotline and provide information of immigration violators. – Lyna Mohamad
