    Immigration offenders nabbed

    Seven foreign nationals were detained and brought to the Immigration and National Registration Department’s (INRD) Law Enforcement Division for offences under Immigration Acts and Regulations Chapter 17 which is not working for their employer stated in their Work Pass and not employed according to their job description during an operation dubbed Operasi Tumpas.

    Some 23 enforcement officers from the INRD took part in the operation targetting fruit and vegetables stalls in Mukim Sengkurong. Offenders can be fined BND600, their Work Pass cancelled and be repatriated. They will also be blacklisted and not allowed back in the Sultanate for work.

    Employers can be slapped with BND3,000 fine for each immigration offender.

    Meanwhile, six INRD enforcement officers conducted another operation in Mukim Gadong.

    One foreign worker was detained for an offence under Regulation 15 (3), Chapter 17 of the Immigration Act – for working not according to the job description. The offender was brought to INRD’s Law Enforcement Division for investigation.

    The INRD reminded the public that the department continuously holds operations to investigate and nab immigration offenders. They also enforce 2019 Anti Human Smuggling Order.
