Immigration offender jailed four months

A 36-year-old Indonesian woman who fled her employer until after her pass expired, was sentenced to three months’ jail on Thursday.

Leni Indriani was also ordered to settle a BND500 fine. However, she confirmed not being able to pay the fine, and will serve jail for a total of four months.

Immigration prosecutor Adi Yusra Adanan revealed to Senior Magistrate Harnita Zelda Skinner that the defendant’s employment pass expired on June 7.

She fled her employer in March and survived by doing various jobs.

The defendant was arrested at her rented quarters in Jalan Menglait, Gadong at 3.05am on November 1, during an inspection by immigration enforcement officers. – Fadley Faisal
