Immigration offences uncovered in BSB, Belait

The Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD) had already carried out four law enforcement operations under the Operasi Kabat 2024 targeting several locations.

Operasi Kabat 01/2024 and Operasi Kabat 04/2024 were implemented by the Law Enforcement Division of Belait Branch, while, Operasi Kabat 02/2024 and Operasi Kabat 03/2024 were headed by the Law Enforcement Division in Bandar Seri Begawan.

Six foreign nationals were inspected at an air conditioning maintenance and a fence construction site in Mukim Kuala Belait. Five of them were directed to the Law Enforcement Division for further investigations, three of whom were found to have committed the offence under Regulation 15(2), Chapter 17 of the Immigration Regulation, for not working with the actual employer.

The fourth was found to have committed two offences – Regulation 15(3), Chapter 17 of the Immigration Regulation for working not according to the position listed in the passport and Regulation 35(1), Chapter 17 of the Immigration Regulation for employing an immigration offender without the knowledge of the actual employer, while the fifth was believed to have employed immigration offenders without the actual employer’s knowledge.

Meanwhile, at a rented house in Mukim Pengkalan Batu, a foreign national was arrested and taken in for investigation for having an expired immigration pass.

At a business premises in Mukim Gadong, a foreign national was arrested for misusing the social visit pass. Meanwhile, at a rented house in Jalan Dipa Negara, Belait, a foreign national was found overstaying in the country as well as having ran away from the employer.
