The Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD) conducted three enforcement operations under ‘Operasi Panyap’ across various locations in Brunei Darussalam recently, leading to multiple arrests for immigration violations.
The operations, aimed at enforcing the Immigration Act and related regulations, also focused on compliance with the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act, Chapter 230, and the Prevention of Smuggling of Migrants Act, Chapter 229.
During Operasi Panyap 13/2025 at a two-storey house in Mukim Pengkalan Batu and an eatery in Mukim Sengkurong, four foreign nationals were inspected, with two detained for overstaying their immigration passes under Section 15(1) of the Immigration Act, Chapter 17.
While in Operasi Panyap 14/2025 at a construction project in Mukim Kuala Belait, two foreign nationals were detained for further investigation – one individual was found working for an employer other than the original sponsor, violating Regulation 15(2) of the Immigration Regulations, Chapter 17, while another individual was detained for abetting an immigration offence under Regulation 35(1) of the same act.

During Operasi Panyap 15/2025 at a foreign worker accommodation in Mukim Liang, one foreign national was detained for failing to produce valid documentation.
The department urged the public to assist in reporting immigration violations by contacting the JIPK hotline at 8734888 / 8753888 (Bandar Seri Begawan) or 8984111 (Kuala Belait).
