Cleanliness is a fundamental cultural practice and a crucial measure to prevent the transmission of diseases, stated Imams in their Friday sermon.

They emphasised that cleanliness is essential before undertaking any task, especially in worship. For instance, performing ablution and ensuring the body, clothes, and place of prayer are clean and pure are obligatory before praying. The use of the siwak (a stick used for oral hygiene) was also encouraged.

The Imams highlighted that fostering clean living practices begins at home. Parents and guardians should educate and guide family members about hygiene, promoting a family culture that values cleanliness. This, in turn, will contribute to a society and country that prioritises cleanliness.

Furthermore, the Imams underscored the importance of personal hygiene, maintaining clean residences, places of worship, and public spaces. They called for self-discipline in upholding cleanliness responsibilities and fostering a culture of mutual advice and caution regarding hygiene practices. Utilising available facilities to the best extent was also recommended. – AZLAN OTHMAN
