Imams address increase in family-linked drug cases

Imams highlighted a troubling rise in drug misuse and trafficking among families, with approximately 720 individuals involved over the past three years, during their Friday sermon.

They attributed the increase to several socio-economic, cultural, and personal factors, such as high social pressure, broken families, easy access to drugs, lack of education, emotional disturbances, and the decline of moral and social values.

To combat this growing issue, the Imams proposed several solutions, including early education and awareness about the dangers of drug abuse among family members, improving the social and economic conditions of the community, fostering cooperation between authorities, the community, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and enhancing law enforcement.

The Imams emphasised that a future society free from drug abuse would exhibit characteristics such as obedience to Allah the Almighty in every aspect, justice and well-being, behaving fairly, honestly, and responsibly, upholding high ethics and morals following Islamic teachings, and continually seeking knowledge to develop intellectually.
