Illegal roadside stalls at RPN Lambak Kanan demolished

The Housing Development Department and the Public Works Department ordered the demolition of food stalls built without permission in RPN Kampong Lambak Kanan.

The authorities said the stalls encroached into areas reserved for roads.

Patrols by the enforcement officers found that some of the owners and hawkers had complied with the order and started demolishing their stalls on June 24, said authorities in the statement.

The authorities reminded the public that running any kind of business on National Housing Scheme (RPN) land is not allowed.

They noted that food stalls built up to the boundary line of the house and encroach on the road can also affect the safety and cleanliness of the area.

The authorities also urged owners of RPN houses and stall vendors to operate legally in areas that have been set up, adding that the government is trying to provide a special alternative site to accommodate stalls that are more suitable in terms of safety and cleanliness for hawkers. – Azlan Othman
