An unauthorised furniture factory in Kampong Junjongan was shut down by authorities earlier this year, said the Department of Town and Country Planning.
In a statement yesterday, the department said the factory was conducting industrial works and had built structures for industrial activities without permission.
“This factory was carried out in a residential zone that is unsuitable for industrial purposes.
The illegal structure is built on three residential lots and used as furniture works,” said the department.
The department said the landowner had complied with the order, ceasing industrial activities, demolished the illegal structure and had cleaned up the area.
The public is reminded to comply with the planning laws, in particular Section 23, Chapter 248 of the Town and Country Planning Act, which provides that no person shall carry out the development, subdivision or consolidation of any land or carry out any work in a conservation area without permission from the planning authority.
