Illegal beauty aestheticians to learn fate on July 13

Two Malaysians pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday to charges of practicing medicine or surgery and providing facial treatments without a licence.

Liza Toong, 27, admitted to having provided a dimple creation service, without being registered as a medical practitioner, at a hotel in the capital on the afternoon of March 18.

Victoria Lorina anak Saini, 34, admitted to providing facial treatments, without holding a beauty and health establishment licence, on two counts.

The charges levelled by Prosecutor Siti Khalillah binti Hussin against Liza carry five years’ jail and a fine while each of the charges faced by Victoria Lorina carry penalties of a BND10,000 fine and beyond for continuing offences. Senior Magistrate Azrimah biti Abdul Rahman is considering fitting punishments on July 13. The duo are represented by lawyers from messrs AIP, Leney Andrew Albert and Abdul Muqtadir Suhaimei. – Fadley Faisal
