    Ilal Hijrah celebrations continue around nation

    Prime Minister’s Office

    In commemoration of the Islamic new year, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and its departments held a Ilal Hijrah 1446 celebration at its premises yesterday.

    Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof was the guest of honour.

    The ceremony saw recitations of verses from Al-Quran as well as a reading of lessons from those verses.

    A special religious talk entitled ‘Ilal Hijrah Mengajak Kita Untuk Menjadi Manusia Yang Terbaik’ was also delivered by Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan senior assistant professor Dr Mikdar bin Rusdi.

    A Selawat Tafrijiyyah led by officers and staff from the Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah concluded the ceremony. This year’s ceremony was co-organised by the Wawasan Brunei Office and the Civil Service Institute.

    Ministry of Education

    The Ministry of Education (MoE) held a Ilal Hijrah 1446 ceremony at the New MoE Building yesterday.

    Minister of Education Datin Seri Setia Dr. Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh was the guest of honour.

    The event saw a special religious talk, ‘Ilal Hijrah: Apa Kaitannya Dengan Kita?’ delivered by Assistant Registrar, Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali Dr Muhammad Yadiy bin Haji Mat Yassin.

    The event continued with an Islamic Poetry reading, Sekudus Perjalanan Hijrah Buat Insan Terpilih’ delivered by student representatives from higher education institutions.

    This year’s ceremony was co-organised by the Department of Scholarship Management and Secretariat of Brunei Darussalam National Accreditation Council. – Adib Noor

    Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali

    Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) welcomed the arrival of the new Islamic year with a special religious ceremony at the Al Syafi’i Surau at the university premises on Thursday.

    Acting Deputy Rector of UNISSA Dr Haji Arman bin Haji Asmad was the guest of honour.

    A special lecture, ‘Preserving the Mind, Prosperous Society’, was delivered by UNISSA assistant professor Dr Kamaru Salam bin Yusof.

    The lecture highlighted that a prosperous society begins with individuals who take care of their minds and practise Islamic values in their daily lives.

    This includes maintaining a good relationship with Allah the Almighty and interacting with others with love and respect. – Fadley Faisal

    Universiti Brunei Darussalam

    Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) on Friday held a special Quranic Journey programme at the UBD Mosque to commemorate Ilal Hijrah 1446.

    UBD Vice-Chancellor Dr Hazri bin Haji Kifle was the guest of honour.

    The event saw the recitation of Surah Al-Kahfi, which is a regular part of the programme, alternating with the recitation of Surah Yaasiin each week.

    A Tadabbur Al-Quran session was also delivered by mosque affairs officer Pengiran Ahmad Faris Ramadhani bin Pengiran Haji Sellahuddin.

    The session, themed ‘Hijrah: A Blessing and a Test’, reflected on the stories behind the migration of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

    The celebration was organised by the Spirituality and Community Service Unit in collaboration with the UBD Students’ Association. – Fadley Faisal
