IET Brunei elects new committee members

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) Brunei Darussalam Network held its 24th annual general meeting (AGM) virtually recently.

The meeting saw the chairman’s report and the treasurer’s report for the 2020/2021 session, and the election of the new office-bearers, management committee members and auditors for the term 2022/2023.

The new management committee comprised professionals from both the government and private institutions including Ir Haji Jailani bin Haji Buntar elected as Honorary Chairman for the 2022/2023 Session.

Ir Dayangku Roselawati binti Pengiran Haji Halus was elected Honorary Vice Chairman, Ikhwan Tiong bin Abdullah Honorary Secretary, Ir Poh Eng Hong Honorary Treasurer and Muhd Faiz bin Adros Honorary Assistant Secretary.

Other committee members are Lim Sam Lee, Ir Simon K A Leong, Ir Dr Tang Shi Siong, Lieutenant Colonel (U) Schufin bin Haji Brahim, Pengiran Haji Masle bin Pengiran Haji Hamid, Zainidi bin Haji Abdul Hamid and Muhd Aminuddin bin Mohd Yussof.

Meanwhile, Vinaya Kumar Vidyadharan and Tay Shieh Cherng were elected auditors for session 2022/2023.

The IET Young Professional Section (YPS) elected Jevons Penaflor as Chairman, Muhd Faiz bin Adros as Vice Chairman, Tang Dun Hao as Secretary and Tay Shieh Cherng as Treasurer, while Pengiran Md Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Haji Hassan and Ikhwan Tiong bin Abdullah were elected ordinary IET YPS members.

The IET is one of the world’s leading professional societies for the engineering and technology community. The IET has more than 168,000 members in 150 countries and offices in Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific.

The IET Brunei sets its vision in sharing and advancing knowledge throughout the global science, engineering and technology (SET) community contributing towards national development with its mission to establish a culture of professionalism highly valued and appreciated by all in Brunei Darussalam.

Increased membership and collaboration with stakeholders will be key success factors in achieving this mission. The honorary chairman reported that IET Brunei membership numbers 106. The meeting concluded with a technical talk entitled ‘3D Printing – Create Reality, Achieve Dream’ by Muhd Ammirul Hadi bin Samri from Tiga-D Lab Enterprise.
